God’s Strength In My Weakness

Gods Strength in My Weakness

This is a place I never thought I would find myself in. However, the things God is doing in my life right now are simply amazing. As I look at myself and where I am right now I know it could only be by God’s design. He does not reveal everything we have to go through because if He did we would most likely tap out at the first sight of discomfort. Or, maybe that’s just me. The way God has revealed His strength in my weakness is nothing short of a miracle. He did not wave a magic wand to make things better. Instead, He placed people in my life for such a time as this.

I sincerely thank God for my mother. Without her, I don’t know how I would have ever made it through. I was in a state of shock during the weekend of my wife’s passing and could not figure out what to do or how to feel. She stepped in immediately and began coordinating with me to make arrangements. I have never had a situation that has ever knocked the wind out of me, but Ann’s death was the one. God used my mother to portray the glimpse of His strength I needed at the time.

One of the first things I did while going through was to separate myself from every negative person. There were certain people that I had to disconnect from in order for me to heal properly. I went on a blocking spree. These individuals were blocked from my social media accounts as well as my phone. I am blessed to be able to say that I have no negative relationships with anyone in my family members. I’m not saying my family is without flaws, but they have always shown me nothing but love and support my whole life. This I am forever grateful for. However, I do understand that this is not the case for most people.

I want to say this to you. Yes you, the person reading this. If you are going to reach a place of healing or success you must make the decision to disconnect from anything negative that is holding you back. There has to be distance placed between you and their negativity. After I went on that blocking spree, I could honestly say that there were no negative people personally attached to me. Every call or text message I received was uplifting and encouraging in nature.

My friends are simply amazing! There are five friends in particular that have helped me tremendously. They are Rhonie (@RhonieSays), Sharita (@tummyyumyum47), Ron (@mosbyknowsme), and Tony (@IAmTonyWarrick). We’ll discuss the fifth in a minute.

I can’t say enough about these four people and how much they mean to me. They were and still are a great support system. They always call and check on me. In Rhonie’s case, she almost threatened me until I picked up the phone, Lol. God brought us all together during this time in our lives to fulfill His purpose. I want to say that I appreciate every prayer, phone call, and joke. Sharita, I appreciate your threats also, Lol, You guys have really held me up during the toughest time in my life. There are no words to express how much that means to me.

The best is yet to come for all of us! God did not bring us together for nothing. He has something great ahead for us all. Click To Tweet

About a month after Ann’s passing I was talking to God and saying “God, I need someone to talk to. I need a mature lady I can simply have a conversation with who was not going to take it as an engagement after the second word.” I contacted a lady named Kudzie (@kudzyvfavoured). We spoke a few times two years ago about going to Zimbabwe. I was invited there but could not attend because of health issues. Anyway, I asked her about the church of a well-known pastor that I was going to visit. She gave me the info and then said, “God is with you. His plans are not to harm you but to give you a hope and an unexpected end.” Those words were like a drink of cold water compared to the other things women were saying to me.

Also, I did not want to alarm my friends and family so I kept from them the fact that my appetite was almost completely gone at that time. I think I was eating maybe once a day, twice on a good day. I laugh about it now but Kudzie made me eat. She called/texted every day to make sure I was eating. If she was not checking to see if I ate she was calling/texting to remind me that it’s time to eat. At one point she requested I send her pictures of my plate so she knew I was actually eating. She allowed me to talk and get out the things I needed to say without wanting anything in return.

During this time in my life, God is opening many doors for me to speak on love and relationships. Kudzie is helping me with my affairs in Africa. This lady is truly amazing and just what I needed during this time in my life. Because of her, I’m back to eating 3-5 times a day. I’ve also been working out. I’ve always been perfectly healthy but now I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been in my entire life. I was going to Zimbabwe anyway, but even if I was not I would make a special trip just for her. Not only has she helped me with eating but there were some personal issues that she was able to help me with. I was shocked by the wisdom coming from her mouth. Not to mention, she’s been teaching me Shona. I’ve always wanted to learn another language.

Again, God did not wave a magic wand. He sent the people I needed to help me get where I needed to be. I’m super excited about what God has in store and will continue to let Him connect the dots in my life.
