If you are going through anything in your life I’m sure you have already had this feeling or asked yourself this question. It often feels like God is taking too long to deliver us from whatever we may be going through at the time. Don’t feel bad because we have all been there before and some of us are there right now. No one likes to suffer. At least, no one I have ever met. No one says to themselves, “Dear God, I want more problems.” That does not even sound right. The reason we think God is taking too long is that we want to hurry up and get back to being comfortable. The truth is, we expected some level of discomfort in our faith walk but not THIS level of discomfort... so now we're looking at #God wondering if He will bring us through this. This is a natural human reaction. And once again, all of us have been there. This includes the most anointed apostle, pastor, prophet, teacher, evangelist, and your favorite singer. Don’t let anyone fool you into believing they are above being human. None of us like struggle, stress, or being sick.
The Amor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18)
This is why we must have on the armor of God. We need the helmet of salvation to combat those negative thoughts that come our way. These thoughts just keep coming, and coming, and coming. When our minds are not shielded by the word of God, any thought can take root. You see, we can’t stop the thoughts from coming but we sure can keep them from moving in.
The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
We must also learn how to wait on God. In the Bible, they call this patience. When we are patiently waiting we are waiting with a good attitude. We’re not waiting and complaining. It seems easy to park your life on Complaint St. because everybody is doing it. The Bible says that we should always pray. It does not say for us to always complain or point fingers while we pray. A big part of maturing in the things of God is for us to be able to recognize when we are on the wrong street. As a child, my mother would say to me, “Don’t go on that street.” This is the same thing God is saying to us today. Don’t go on Complaining St.
We have to stay focused and remember that God’s thoughts are far above our thoughts and He wants us to win in the end. The reason why God is taking so long is that He wants to get it so right! He wants to bring us to a land flowing with milk and honey but we must first be developed enough to handle the milk. Oh, and the honey.
God is setting you up for a blessing. He’s setting you up to win the game of life! Let’s put this in a way you might understand. You might be down in the first, second, and third quarters but when the buzzer sound at the end of the game you will be declared the winner. Start declaring your victory. You have the victory over low self-esteem, depression, negative thinking, every family curse, sickness and disease, financial issues, marital issues, and anything else that may come against you. It may seem like life is against you but God has already fixed this game in your favor!
P.S. I didn’t mention the enemy because he is already defeated!
